Book two in the Inspector West crime series.

Carl is considering if he will accept Nina’s conditions for continuing their relationship, following the exposure of their affair, when he receives a call from Chief Inspector Rankin telling him that an old man is dead and a ten year old boy is missing.

While Nina takes leave, Carl is drawn into the investigation of the murder of seventy-five year old Kieran Moore and the disappearance of Toby, his great-grandson, after the pair had secretly stolen away for the weekend.

The Moore family finds itself living a nightmare, as Inspector West unravels Kieran Moore’s double life and hopes he’ll find Toby before it’s too late.

There’s plenty of suspense and a few unexpected outcomes in this one.
